Hi-Ho The Cheese Stands Alone

I have to share this dream I awoke to this morning as the last line was the first thing I had in my head when I got up:  The cheese stands alone.

What do you think of when you hear that line?  Well, it came from the children’s song, The Farmer In The Dell.  Do you remember this?

The farmer in the dell
The farmer in the dell
Hi-ho, the derry-o
The farmer in the dell – And the farmer takes a wife – And the wife takes the child – And the child takes the nurse – And the nurse takes the dog – And the dog takes the cat – And the cat takes the mouse – And the cat takes the mouse – And the mouse takes the cheese –
And the cheese stands alone
The cheese stands alone
Hi-ho, the derry-o
The cheese stands alone.

What fresh hell is that?  What does it mean to dream that I’m the cheese that stands alone?  Have you ever heard of such a dream?

I’d like to think that maybe it’s a metaphor for how I’m feeling these days – free of my EX, his family and knowing that he’s now dating again, the cheese (me) stands alone.

I thought you’d get a laugh out of this crazy dream I awoke to this morning.  Have you ever had crazy dreams like that?  What do you think it means?

Well, if I’m to be the cheese who stands alone, I’m going to be brie because that’s my favorite!  What’s your favorite cheese?

  1. “mouse takes the cheese and the cheese stands alone” I have NO idea what that’s supposed to mean, but you made me laugh, so thank you!

  2. I don’t think there is any cheese I don’t like! I had this thing yesterday….they take a wheel of I think gruyire, and they put it over a heat source, as it starts to get melty, they spread it on a baguette. It was insane
