Please Tell Me What You Think

I saw this quote on FB the other day and had to share it.  What do you think?

“Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.” — Louise Erdrich, The Painted Drum

  1. Makes me glad I’m not on Facebook!

  2. I love this quote!!! I hope to use it in the final chapter of my book about online dating in middle life (Unleashing the Cougar! Adventures of an Online Dating Virgin). It says so much in so many layers and it speaks an eternal truth – that life hurts and that taking risks is essential to living. Thank you for sharing.

Absolutely. No two ways. Hiding from it lends to the opposite of our nature as humans to love.

We’re here to connect. It’s easy to live alone and keep balanced; it’s more fulfilling to interact with others, and learn how to balance yourself and them. Great quote, G
