Did I get your attention? I’m laughing because for those of you who know me, you’re wondering what I’m up to and for those that maybe don’t know me, you’re thinking – cougar? LOL Cougar…in my dreams…more laughter…hmmm….nah….
But no. No dating here so far. But I decided to take a huge leap and get the trainer package at the gym. For starters, I’ve never spent money like this before nor have I ever thought of a trainer since I’m on a budget. But, my friend and I joined the gym and it did make a difference when I had my 2 sessions with the trainer. I felt like I was standing up straighter and even though I hurt for days after the first session, after the second, recovery seemed a little easier. And I think it’s time for me to start feeling better about myself after all that I’ve been through over the years.
My kids are totally on board with me joining a gym. In fact, they’re interested in what exercises Donny (the trainer) makes me do since they go to the gym all the time. Since Donny is 26 and closer to their age, they think it’s funny that I’m being trained by someone way younger than me.
At first, I was hesitant to have someone so much younger train me. He’s obviously in shape and he kicked my butt the first time I had a session with him which made me think I should ask for someone closer to my age to train me. But then, on the second session, I explained my limitations and he was kind and encouraging which made me feel better. So I’m staying with Donny.
I still haven’t kicked my my bad habit, but it’s getting less and less because I don’t want to stink at the gym. So that’s a plus too. One of these days when I totally quit, I’ll venture into the online dating scene. Well, maybe I will. At least I’m thinking about it more these days. I think that getting in shape a bit is helping my self-esteem.
If you hate to exercise like I do, I will tell you that it is possible to get in shape and actually enjoy it a bit if you have a trainer because then you feel like someone is with you, encouraging you and showing you what to do along the way. Yes, it’s a stretch for me in my budget, but I’ve decided I’m worth it. And so are you!
