Back On Tracks

I’ve been listening to music more lately. There was a time when I only listened to the radio in the car and because I wasn’t in the car often, I wasn’t listening to music. And I missed it. I didn’t even realize how much I missed it until recently.

So now when I am cooking dinner, I have my music playing. I sing along (quietly so as not to disturb anyone) and it feels like I’m me again. There’s something about singing that brings me peace and good energy as well. I realized how out of practice I was though when I first began singing as I sounded froggy, like my vocal chords were rusty from not being used. I guess they really were considering I’d gone a long time without singing.

I love to sing in the car as well, but I have never really been a shower singer. Do you sing in the shower? Or the car?

So, funny story…Last night not only was I singing, but bee-bopping along to the music. I was swinging my hips and dancing as I was making dinner. The kids were out at the gym and weren’t expected home for another 15 minutes. I had my EarPods in so I was completely unaware that anyone had come home, let alone were standing in the kitchen staring at me belting out 80’s tunes without reservation. LOL. Yup, caught in the act!

I was at the stove stirring when suddenly I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. There were my kids staring at me. I burst out laughing as did they! God only knows how long they were standing there, but we all had a good laugh. I have to be more careful now. Not like I was doing anything wrong, but dancing like I did in my 20’s with this 50ish body probably wasn’t a good look for me. Ha! But who cares? It’s our house and yes, I was having a great time while making dinner.

Life is short. Sing and dance all you want! Live!!

I love this, Janie! Good for you! Nothing can boost the mood like music can. I almost always have music on, and when I’m in my yard weeding or watering, I usually have my earbuds in and am jamming to some of my favorite tunes. I don’t usually sing along, but I definitely have a spring in my step as I’m going about my daily activities πŸ˜‰
Keep on singing and dancing and living life to the fullest!! ❀

I don’t have Spotify, but my kids do. I have Sirius XM and the free Amazon music that comes with Prime. And an old iPod with a ton of music on it which I can’t always access, but it has some of my CD’s on it. πŸ™‚

I do miss my ipod and all my CDs, but so far I have been able to find almost everything on Spotify. When you make a Playlist on there, it gives recommendations, so sometimes I jump down that rabbit hole. πŸ˜„ This morning some Prince songs popped up, so now I’m enjoying some old high school tunes. πŸ˜‚
