Exhaustion Overload

I’ve started a few posts over the last few days, but never published any of them. Today I’m on exhaustion overload which only happens every once in awhile. But it’s very real to me. I’ve been helping friends and family to process what’s going on in their lives and I think that the energy I needed in order to help them has depleted mine. Such is life.

I have to remember that I need to take care of me as well as them. Because this feeling stinks. And I know better. I know I should have protected myself instead of absorbing their chaotic energies, but I didn’t. Now I just need to maybe take a good long shower to wash it all down the drain in order to renew my own energy. When I feel like I can get up off the couch…

In the meantime, I think they’re doing better.

But I’m not really. I know better than to have done what I did. Taking on too much at one time. It’s the way I’m built as many of us are. We tell ourselves that we can keep on doing it all in order to get it done, but once we’re depleted, we are alone. We have to build ourselves back up again. And we don’t tell others about it. Silently we just do what needs to be done in hopes that we can regain what we’ve given away. I don’t mean that we’re looking for someone to pick us back up either. We’re just looking for some quiet time, away from the fray of responsibliity. But it takes extra time when we’ve shouldered so much for so long.

That’s how I’m feeling today. Perhaps it’s the weather which is stormy. Perhaps it is the aftermath of the Summer Solstice. Perhaps it is just a part of the cycle of life. Perhaps it is part of being on exhaustion overload and needing a break. I can’t decide and I don’t think it’s necessary. I just think I need a good long nap…

You need to spoil yourself. How about a soak in the bath, candles, great music and a glass of your favourite wine?

Out bodies will tell us a lot if only we’d stop and listen to them. Not that I have much room to talk as I’m currently in crash mode myself after having ignored mine a bit too long. That’s the flip side to it. Our bodies will try and tell us, but if we ignore them too long, they will just shut us down and force us to take the time or rest that we need. I hope you can get the rest you need!
